OGKTMA's COVID-19 relief efforts — 2021

In 2021, during the height of the COVID-19 crisis, OGKTMA took swift and impactful action to support communities across Telangana. The organization led a massive humanitarian initiative, contributing over half a million dollars in COVID relief, focused primarily on the distribution of life-saving oxygen concentrators.
A key highlight of this initiative was the unveiling of OGKTMA oxygen concentrators by the Honorable Governor of Telangana, President Tamilisai Soundararajan, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society — Telangana State Branch, during Telangana Formation Day celebrations at Raj Bhavan.
Collaborations that made a difference
OGKTMA partnered with several trusted organizations to ensure the effective delivery and use of oxygen concentrators, particularly in rural Telangana. Special thanks to the Red Cross Telangana Unit, which played a critical role in establishing and operating Oxygen Banks across the state. OGKTMA also worked alongside like-minded nonprofit organizations that serve primary health centers in districts such as Warangal, Mahboobnagar, Nagarkurnool, Karimnagar, and Nalgonda:
- Helping Hand Foundation
- Agarwal Foundation
- JCI, Secunderabad
- Dignity Drive Foundation
- Robinhood Foundation
- Sevodagam Foundation, Hyderabad
- Dr. KV Reddy Lions Hospital, Bodhan, Nizamabad
Impact at a glance
- 196 oxygen concentrators distributed at the Red Cross Society, Telangana State Branch Headquarters, Hyderabad
- An additional 200 units allocated to hospitals and primary health centers across the state, including Osmania General Hospital, Nizams Institute, and Kakatiya Medical College Hospital
Through collaboration, compassion, and a strong alumni network, OGKTMA demonstrated how diaspora communities can make a tangible impact on healthcare systems back home, especially in times of crisis.
